An invitation to spend time with the SWAP team was a challenge, mixing the pressures of work, family and play, but it was well worth it, especially for the friendships created while “working” there.
The SWAP project is Dennis’ idea to make a difference. You can see that he is building things over there from scratch – his ideas are new, he’s in a new culture and introducing new ways to do things on the Internet.
The people he’s working with too are all new friends, partners and contacts. For a week or so, that included me.
To be honest I was a bit apprehensive about having an Aussie as a roommate, but it worked out well. Bloody well actually. I’d never have guessed that a “Where the bloody hell are you?” guy could end up being a newfound mate of a good old “Bloody Kiwi” but we got on like a house on fire. It helped that we shared common interests – construction, sport, music and that we both enjoyed a cold Vailima, or two!
Our web journalist was great value too. She was always around about – cheerful, able to scribble down a few words here and there, we all got on like a house on fire.
I guess that’s just what comes of being part of a team – getting to know others that cross our paths on our own journey. SWAP Camaraderie is great and good luck to the teams I’m ahead of. You’re sure to enjoy your slice of fun in the sun with others.
I certainly did!
