Dennis A. Smith

Dennis SmithI’m under strict instructions to make this short, really short . . .

In 2009 I got caught up in the September 2009, Tsunami aftermath. I booked a holiday with my daughter and me to Samoa, basically because our usual destintation Fiji was just a bit too politically unstable for my liking. In between the time we booked and the time we arrived I did many hours research about Samoa online. Their web presence was basically unco-ordinated and quite third-worldish (I’m keeping it short ok?), so I was in a strong position to know what was needed post-Tsunami.

We arrived the week following the Tsunami and was party to chaos in paradise and had a crash course in Faa Samoa – the Samoan way.

I offered to help – The Samoan Tourism Authority, The Samoan Hotel Association, The Ministry of IT & Communications, major resorts, minor resorts, you name it and everyone said “Yes, great ideas!” and then nothing happened. I even put a proposal to the Minister of Tourism but still nothing happened. That’s what happens when you live in a 30+ degree heat and the culture cries “Take it easy!” from morning till night!

Anyway keeping it simple, I had a vision (Yes, sometimes the Creator really does this sort of thing), and He told me to share the vision. So I did and here we are . . .

Is that short enough?
